#6 Tundra & Palace - Icebarns

Image
At the very beginning of 2023, I wanted to make a collection of some Icebarn puzzles, ranging in size and difficulty ready for a relatively short puzzle series. Naturally, the fatal flaw in this plan was that it required commitment, the ability to make each puzzle distinct, the ability to make each puzzle pretty, and in some cases the ability to make the puzzle not flawed in some way, something that I was definitely not capable of back in the day.  Here are some of the puzzles that survived. One day, I might remake some of the other puzzles. Rules: Draw a line that goes in through the IN arrow, passes through every marked arrow in the specified direction, and out through the OUT arrow. Two perpendicular line segments may only intersect each other on icy cells, but they may not turns at their intersection or otherwise overlap. The loop cannot turn on icy cells. The loop must pass through a region of orthogonally connected icy cells at least once. Links: https://puzz.link/p?ice...

#5 Lock and Key - Choco Banana

This puzzle was from quite a while ago. I really should make more of this genre as it flows so nicely. Est. Difficulty 4/10 Rules: Shade some cells on the board . A group of shaded cells must form a rectangle or square . A group of unshaded cells must not form a rectangle or square . A clue indicates the size of the group . A group can contain one clue , more than one (of the same ) clue , or no clues at all . Link: https://puzz.link/p?cbanana/10/10/r4n2g25i3i4g5zp7gaici76g6nar

#4 Slumber - Variant Snake Egg

Image
Recently, there was a speed setting competition within the CTC discord server. The prompt was to make a snake egg puzzle, whether it be a classic puzzle or one with some added variant spice (as long as it still resembled the genre :D), all in one hour. I eventually settled on what I thought was a pretty neat theme, a bit messy but pretty reasonable for the time given. Turns out, it came first place! First speed setting contest I've ever got a podium position for, let alone first. It'd be a shame to not put it here, so I prettied it up a little bit for the blog post and put it up. I hope you like it :) Est. difficulty (3-4)/10 Rules: Locate a snake in the grid, whose head and tail are given, with touching itself only diagonally. The unshaded regions should from areas of sizes 1-8, two of the areas are not present and are to be determined by the solver. Two adjacent cells on a line cannot be both shaded or both unshaded.
